In-Ground Pool Opening Instructions

If you have a winter cover, remove it. For solid covers pump the water from the cover, underneath the cover, back into the pool. Add water to proper level if needed.

Remove winter plugs from the returns and the gizmo from the skimmer. Connect filter and pump. Fill pump basket with water to prime the pump. Turn on pump. If you have a d.e. filter open air bleed until water shoots out. Close air bleed. Add recommended dosage of d.e. filter powder into the skimmer slowly. When done take note of the pressure on the pressure gauge. Backwash when gauge is 10lb’s over clean running pressure or when water from the returns slows down. For sand filters backwash when pressure is 10lb’s over clean running pressure or when water from the returns slows down.

To backwash filter always turn off the pump. Failure to turn off the pump can cause personal injury and or damage to the valve. Set valve to backwash setting. Turn on pump and watch sight glass on valve. When water runs clear turn pump off. Set valve to rinse setting. Turn on pump and run for 20-30 seconds. Turn off pump and set valve back to filter setting. For d.e. filters add recommended dosage of d.e. filter powder slowly through the skimmer. Note pressure on gauge. For sand filters turn pump on and continue to filter. Repeat backwashing procedure as needed.

Have water tested and balance chemicals as soon as possible. Vacuum pool as needed and run filter until pool is clear.
