In-Ground Pool Opening Instructions

If you have a winter cover, remove it. For solid covers pump the water from the cover, underneath the cover, back into the pool. Add water to proper level if needed.

Remove winter plugs from the returns and the gizmo from the skimmer. Connect filter and pump. Fill pump basket with water to prime the pump. Turn on pump. If you have a d.e. filter open air bleed until water shoots out. Close air bleed. Add recommended dosage of d.e. filter powder into the skimmer slowly. When done take note of the pressure on the pressure gauge. Backwash when gauge is 10lb’s over clean running pressure or when water from the returns slows down. For New Water Automatic Chlorinators

Cut the chlorine pack a 1/2” below the recommended cut line for optimal chlorination. With filter off, turn chlorinator adjustment knob to closed position. Open cover and insert chlorine pack Turn adjustment knob to 4 for the first day. Turn up by one increment daily as needed to achieve optimal chlorine dispersion. When getting a level chlorine reading leave knob at that level. Check the chlorine pack after 3 weeks. Replace when empty. Do not store chlorine packs near any pool or other equipment as the vapors are extremely corrosive. Maintain proper chlorine and PH levels and have water tested regularly to maintain total water balance.

Pool Vacuuming Instructions

Attach pole to vacuum head. Connect vacuum hose to the vacuum head. Connect skim vacuum to other end of the vacuum hose. Place vacuum head and pole in water. With pool running, hold the skim vacuum over the return to fill hose with water. When vacuum head bubbles to the top of pool and sinks, hose is full. Place skim vacuum over basket in the skimmer. Make sure pump is full of water and move vacuum head slowly across the bottom of the pool to vacuum. When done vacuuming remove vacuum head from the water. Remove skim vacuum and clean basket in skimmer. Do not try to remove the skim vacuum before removing vacuum head from the water. There is too much suction and you can damage the skimmer and other equipment.
